And after the course Mark said I get his free advice forever. I will be calling him."

- Jessica Roberts
"This was a real confidence builder and life course. I feel better now that I know how to use my Revolver. I also had the wrong ammo the whole time. Thanks Mark."

"A lesson with great group of realtors, one loved the double stack, another loved the wheel gun and one fell in love with the LC9."
"Just had the best firearm instructions from Mark, I am a Viet Nam Vet and never fired a handgun, did M-14,M-16-M-60, and M-79 but never a handgun. Instructions on how to receive a handgun when someone hands it to you, how to grip, how to stand, how to address your target, what to expect on the different recoils. Thanks Mark for taking the time to explain things and not just the firing of the weapon. I will feel very comfortable going forward when I purchase my own firearm."
- Ed Fricker
Never, ever buy a gun because it’s cheap! Pick something with a well-known trusted brand. You can save money buying a good condition used name-brand gun, but have a competent gunsmith check it over before you shoot it to be sure it’s safe. However, as a first-time gun owner without experience knowing what to look for, it’s probably a better idea to get something new.
Don’t buy a small-caliber gun thinking that you just want to scare away or hurt an assailant. You should buy a gun to use as a lethal, last chance, worst case assault response. If you can see that the bad guy is armed, that “stop or I’ll shoot” none sense will get you killed.
If you’re interested in something very compact to carry (in a purse, for example), or if you sleep in an upper level bedroom, you might seriously think about getting two different guns. The larger, more accurate one should be immediately accessible upstairs in the event of a downstairs break-in where the intruder will be most distant. Accordingly, it should also be the gun you spend the most time practicing with at the range to develop proficiency and confidence. I suggest that you purchase this one before getting any other.
Gun permits in Henry County are issued by the Henry County Probate Court at 99 Sims St, McDonough, GA 30253. Gun Permit Applications are accepted Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Fingerprints and photographs are done from 8:00 AM - 12:00 noon and 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
I am not saying that you shouldn’t carry your firearm wherever you are legally allowed to, just that You shouldn’t let those situations and places where it is either illegal or inappropriate to do so keep you from partaking in whatever activity you were planning to partake in.
Firearms are the most efficient tools for responding to an attack with deadly force in the statistically unlikely but still plausible situations that may call for such a response. However, they are not magical talismans that make you safer simply because you possess them on your person at any given time. There are many personal defense situations that are not solved by the use of a defensive firearm, and there are many that a firearm might solve more efficiently, but that can still be solved without one. Just because you find yourself unarmed in a situation where deadly force might be an option doesn’t mean that you are incapable of defending yourself. To have a mentality that fixates on your gun as some sort of security blanket is unwise, especially when it leads you to be a curmudgeon about where you can and can’t go or what activities you can or can’t participate in.
There are some situations where you have no other option but to go about your business unarmed. Most of us have workplaces that by default have a “no guns” policy. Does that mean that if we were to experience violence in the workplace that we couldn’t respond and defend ourselves if given the opportunity? Does it mean that we should quit our jobs? I think not. We should develop a mindset that we are going to fight whenever necessary with whatever tools are available, or our bare hands if needed, in order to survive. If we are worried we don’t have that skillset, we should seek out the training to develop it. I think most of us who understand personal defense would agree that the willingness to fight is the most important factor when it comes to surviving a worst case scenario. With this knowledge, why then do so many of us act like we have to live our lives based on where we can or cannot carry our firearms?
There are many times where I have been disappointed at the uninformed choices that some establishments have made in regard to their weapons policy. There are also some states that I wish would respect the rights of their people and legalize concealed carry.
We as responsible citizens should first and foremost be armed with the will to fight and the ability to improvise and overcome even absent our preferred defensive tools. If you don’t have that comfort level with personal defense in general, you really need to get further training. The other option is just sitting at home and bemoaning the injustice, but that isn’t what I view as a proactive solution. Carry your gun when you can, but take your brain with you everywhere.

Gun safety is an integral part of gun ownership never to be overlooked.
What is the best way to keep your survival gun so it’s always at the ready? How do you do so without jeopardizing the safety of your family and self?
But its not just children that you have to worry about gaining access to your guns. Housekeepers, nosy neighbors, house guests, and visiting relatives could stumble upon a firearm if its laying in wait, and that’s an accident waiting to happen.
One of the most popular [gun safes] use "biometric technology that gives you access to your safe with the scan of a fingerprint.". They also make several keypad entry safes, which are also quicker to access than traditional key varieties. In an emergency, these types of safes will get you to your guns quickly while still keeping them safely away from children and any unwanted attention.
Don’t simply hide your guns and expect no one to find them. Also, don’t give anyone access to your safe codes unless they have your trust and the training to shoot.
Every scenario is different and you never know when you may face a situation that you haven’t prepared for. Practice, practice, and more practice will give you a much better chance of accessing your gun and using it effectively to defend you and your home.
Source: Keeping Your Guns At The Ready – Do’s And Don’tsBeing truly armed means thinking beyond the gun! Being armed is a mindset. You don’t need a gun to be armed.” The discussion we had after that led me to see the need for training to fill in some gaps in my defensive skills. It was a lesson I needed to learn and I am thankful he corrected me.
Just because you own a firearm and go here doesn’t mean you are prepared to use your firearm in a fight! I looked up several definitions of the word “armed” and found that many included the word “weapon.” Our ability to think and reason is what puts us at the top of the food chain. One of the better definitions I found was, “furnished with something that provides security, strength, or efficacy.” Our best weapon is the mindset of strength, security, and efficacy! What is efficacy? “The capacity for producing a desired result or effect.” So to paraphrase, being armed is being furnished with something that provides strength, security, and the capacity for producing a desired result. What is that something? Allow me to propose to you that it’s knowledge.
Through my interactions at a local gun store and affiliation with a range, every day I observe people who carry firearms. Their comments and actions reveal that many of them are not mentally prepared to use their firearm. Many more haven’t taken a single training class to learn how to use their firearm properly for self-defense. How many people do you know who have a firearm in their purse or in a glove box because someone else bought it for them and said they needed to have it? How many of those people would remember they had the gun if they were ambushed? Giving a gun to an unskilled and unwilling person doesn’t make them armed, just as giving a guitar to an unskilled and unwilling person does not make them a musician.
Being prepared to fight evil wherever it may appear is the other part. Ask yourself a question and be honest, as your life may depend on it. “Are you as ready as you should be if you need to confront evil?”
Source: The Defensive MindsetAfter serving in the Marine Corps as an infantry machine gunner and an MP, Mark opened Six Barr's Guns and Archery in Jonesboro GA in 1988. Mark sold all types and models of fire arms as well as provided shooting lessons. As a result of that experience, Mark is now focused on personal client attention. He takes pride in seeing a student build confidence in their shooting abilities. Still he enjoys the first time shooter most.
